MISSION CONFIDENCE STARTS WITH A TRUSTED IMU

group-2123
As emerging PNT technologies evolve to meet the demands of tomorrow’s navigation challenges, one thing remains constant: a high-performance IMU forms the cornerstone of any Assured PNT solution. VectorNav IMUs are trusted worldwide to deliver for the most mission-critical autonomous systems.

ROBUST NAVIGATION COMES FROM MULTIPLE AIDING SOURCES

Contested environments require assured positioning, not single-point dependence. VectorNav’s Tactical Series supports encrypted GPS and advanced anti-jam/anti-spoof technologies, fusing multiple position sources to maintain accuracy and operational integrity.
03

ASSURED NAVIGATION IS DELIVERED THROUGH A PROVEN INS FILTER

group-216
At the core of VectorNav’s assured navigation capability is a proven INS architecture powered by advanced algorithms that intelligently filter, fuse, and weight multiple data sources in real time. This approach enables robust navigation performance even when GNSS signals are degraded or unavailable—maintaining accuracy and stability through algorithmic resilience rather than dependency on any single input.

MODULAR PAYLOAD FOR AGILE, MISSION-DRIVEN DEPLOYMENT

group-225
In modern operations, agility matters. VectorNav’s APNT solutions deliver modularity and rapid integration at scale, allowing programs to adapt capabilities to mission needs without compromising on assured navigation.

BATTLEFIELD TOUGH

Defense operations expose technology to the harshest conditions—high-G maneuvers, shock, vibration, and extreme temperatures. VectorNav IMU/INS solutions are designed to meet and exceed rigorous MIL-STD requirements, ensuring reliability in the most demanding operational environments.

PNT FAQs

A standard GNSS/INS assumes that GNSS signals are generally available and trustworthy. Assured PNT is designed for environments where that assumption fails — where GPS and other GNSS signals may be jammed, spoofed, or denied by adversary electronic warfare. Assured PNT systems fuse multiple independent positioning sources, incorporate anti-jam and anti-spoof technologies, and rely on a high-performance IMU to sustain navigation autonomously when all external signals are compromised.

When external aiding sources are denied, the IMU is the only sensor sustaining navigation. The rate at which position accuracy degrades during a GNSS outage is determined almost entirely by IMU performance — specifically, gyro bias instability and accelerometer noise. A tactical-grade IMU with 1 °/hr bias instability will maintain usable navigation far longer than an industrial-grade sensor at 10 °/hr. This is why VectorNav's Assured PNT solutions are built on the Tactical Series sensor platform.

VectorNav's INS filter architecture supports fusion of multiple aiding sources beyond traditional GNSS, including M-Code GPS for encrypted, jam-resistant satellite positioning, Iridium Satellite Time and Location (STL®) for LEO-based positioning independent of GNSS constellations, anti-jam antenna systems and anti-spoof signal processing.

VectorNav's Tactical Series is qualified to MIL-STD-810 for shock and vibration, MIL-STD-461 for electromagnetic interference and compatibility, and MIL-STD-1275 for military vehicle power systems. These qualifications ensure the hardware performs reliably in the operational environments where Assured PNT is most critical.

VectorNav's MEMS-based Tactical sensors deliver assured navigation at a fraction of the size, weight, power, and cost of fiber-optic gyroscope (FOG) or ring-laser gyroscope (RLG) solutions. For platforms where size, weight, power, and cost (SWaP-C) is constrained — small UAVs, dismounted systems, expendable vehicles, and volume-deployment programs — MEMS technology provides the best balance of navigation performance, physical footprint, and unit economics. For applications requiring strategic-grade inertial performance with no SWaP constraints, FOG and RLG remain appropriate.

Iridium Satellite Time and Location (STL®) is a positioning and timing service broadcast from Iridium's constellation of 66 low-Earth-orbit (LEO) satellites. Because Iridium signals are independent of GPS and other GNSS constellations, STL provides a genuinely separate positioning source that is much harder to be defeated by the same jamming or spoofing techniques used against GNSS. VectorNav supports STL integration through its partnership with NAL Research, adding a resilient aiding layer that strengthens navigation in contested environments.
